For this project we got a cube and drew a picture to represent the six elements of art on each side of the cube.
| 6 Elements of Art Line- A mark that moves and doesn't connect with anything. Shape-Lines that connect. There's freeform shapes that are random or anything you create and there's regular shapes like squares or triangles. Space- The place around a drawing. There's negative space and positive space. Texture-How a surface would feel. Like rough or furry. Color-The reflection of light off a surface. There's primary colors, secondary colors, and tertiary colors. Value- The light and darkness of a color. |
Process We did the same thing for each element box. First our teacher would give us an explanation of what the element is. And he would draw a little picture as an example. He would then let us draw up a draft of the element. After our first draft he would show us picture of it online. The reason being was because he didn't want us to copy that, he wanted us to be original. We would then exchange that draft with someone and they would give us critique on it. We would create another draft and get critiqued again and so on and so forth, until out final draft. After we finished all our drafts for each element our teacher came by and approved all our ideas. He told us what things we could change to make it even better. After that we got our cubes and drew our final products on there. | Learning Thinking about it now I actually learned way more than I thought I did. I didn't really think much about it at the time but now i realized how much I learned. I didn't even know there were different elements of art. But now not only do I know that but I know all of the different elements. I also learned a lot with feedback, from personal experience and from giving feedback to others. What I learned is that it's more helpful to be exact and very specific when talking about things. I also learned that you have to be a very big critique when looking at someones art piece. That doesn't mean that you should be mean but you need to help them progress with their piece and if all you say is that it's nice then there's no room to grow. From re visioning I learned that there's always room to grow. For example when I was drawing my draft for line I drew squiggly lines and then when I got critiqued on it my friend told me to add a heart to make it look like a heartbeat and after I added that I loved it. |
